Tension-compression & flow chamber

This TC-3 culture chamber -which allows applying the combined application of mechanical and flow loads- has been designed to be compatible both with tension and compression flow grips. The compression-flow grips are conceived to be used with porous scaffold scaffold subjected to compressive loads, while tubular scaffols under luminal flow and tension conditions can be culture in by using the tension-flow grips.

A transparent lid covers the culture volumen from the top, whereas a wide glass window as been included in the bottom. All the components of the chambers to be in contact with culture media are autoclavable or disposable.

Flow-compression grips

These grips have been designed to apply compression loads and perfusion flow through the pores a thick scaffolds simultaneously. To operate with them, the TC-3 must be configured vertically. Then, the scaffold is placed is inserted in the system and the upper actuator displaces compressing it to the desired level while culture medium flow is injected in the pores of the scaffold through the lower grip.

The scaffold or tissues this grips can be applied with are those which are subjected to compression loads in-vivo like, e.g., bone or cartilage.

It is worth noting that the scaffold is not clamped to the grips, so only compresion can be applied on it.

Technical Specifications

Flow-compression grips
Compression grips compatible with the TC-3 loading bioreactor system. They allow to establish a flow through the sample while deformation is applied on it.
Material Stainless steel
Plate dimensions 10, 13 and 18 mm in diameter
Maximal displacement 25 mm
Minimal displacement 0 mm
Working configuration Vertical

Flow-tension grips

Designed to allow the application of flow through the lumen of tubular vessels simultaneous to the application of tension loads. Given their geometry, those samples cannot bear compression loads, so once the samples are campled in the grips, only tension loads will be suitable to be applied on them.

Just by replacing an adaptor, the grips can be used with different scaffold diameters, which renders in a highly versatile and configurable system

The TC-3 system can be operated both in vertical and horizontal configurations with this set of grip.
